Super Saturday

Well good morning internets,
After a couple of grey days it's shaping up to be beautiful outside and I plan on spending lots of time soaking up the vitamin D today. Before I do, however, it's time for a dose of happy for all of you at home.
I decided we'll try red this week.

Mostly what comes to mind in Western culture, I think, is love and danger. An interesting combination probably speaks volumes about our collective psyche.

Don't worry I also found some actual facts for you on red, not just mine.

Red is associated with fiery heat and warmth. It can also mean danger (burning).
Red is the color of blood, and as such has strong symbolism as life and vitality. It brings focus to the essence of life and living with emphasis on survival. Red is als the color of passion and lust.

Put some red in your life when you want:
• increased enthusiasm and interest
• more energy
• action and confidence to go after your dreams
• protection from fears and anxieties

Well, that's it for today. If there's anyone out there to notice, I've changed the format from last week. Now we're going to talk about the colour and not the products. Although this might change again. We'll see.

Have a Super Saturday everyone!

Super Saturday

Now, I can't quite decide perhaps you can help me internets friends. When I was a wee girl I used to watch The New Adventures of Lois and Clark with my mum and my was he ever handsome. So, needless to say I have a thing for Superman. Back to the point, Super Saturdays can either be inspired by Superman's colours or I can use things I find that are super fun and happy because it is Saturday after all, probably colour themed. I will leave you all with that thought for now because I have some wonderful items for the inaugural Super Saturday.

Item number one is a phenomenal acrylic painting from OritArt found on Etsy. The colours are fun and energetic. The lines create a wonderful movement. This painting makes me happy just looking at it. I would defs put this above my mantle, if the Handy Man likes it at least. I highly recommend checking out the rest of her work.

I want to start off by saying that walldecors creates wonderfully beautiful wall decals. The little pink birds are totally cute and minimalist and look at that owl, he's awesome. I actually picked this picture because of the adorable little lamp. It's perfect for a babies room, especially if you've decided not to know the sex ahead of time. I would probably put it in a cozy reading nook (I consume books and I've always dreamed of having a cozy corner with a big squishy chair or a window seat and now with this lamp. If anyone out there knows anything about it please leave it in the comments. It's important, I'm in love.

Staying in my future reading nook, I would definitely add this pillow. I highly enjoy whimsical graphic inspired designs (I am a graphic designer, can you blame me?). Can you imagine walking around a corner and seeing a bright airy space with lots of comfy cushions piled high on a nice, soft window seat with this one placed in front. It's perfect. Check out Joom's store, there's lots more silk screen superness there.

Now this one I'm undecided about. It's a stunning piece created by Wood WorkerBee. One part of me would love to have a piece like this in my house, perhaps the entryway to greet my guests, or maybe a teen age girl's room. The other part of my likes the look of natural wood and simplicity. I've seen so many beautifully decorated dressers and I'm always super excited by them and want to play with mine. I just can't decide, what do you guys think?

First things first, I did not pick this because it says "chicks rule!" These adorable magnets made it into Super Saturday because these chicks may me the cutest thing I've ever seen. AngelEllie has such a cute style. I love the rough stone look that she chose too. Way too many people pick the shiny, rounded magnets. I would choose these years before I'd pick those. Defs a win.

Have a Super Saturday everyone!

PS Incase you didn't guess, todays theme was yellow.

DIY - Picture Frames

It's time for our very first DIY over here at Interior Inspirations. I've had 18 Ikea Ram picture frames sitting around for the last few years and never seeming to be able to get to them. This past Saturday I finally did and I'm going to share the results with you, my lucky readers. The Handy Man and I had different ideas about what colour, I wanted a light grey and he wanted dark. We ended up with one to the darker end, but it's kind of primer grey. I think we're going to be repainting soon. I've got the art in so we'll give it a try for a bit. It looks better on the frames than it did the shelf we painted.

You will need:
1 quart of paint, your colour (1 quart is what we bought, but it's far more than you will need.)
picture frames (I have 18 raw wood 4x6 frames)
paintbrush
x-acto knife
tarp, or drop cloth
somewhere safe to let them dry

I think that's about it, you don't really need the knife, but it does make it much easier for getting your images to the right size.
I spread out my tarp outside, helps with fumes. Got my paint, paintbrush, and frames all set up. Spread out some magazine pages for a drying area.

After that it's straightforward. Just paint, and leave to dry.

I cut out all my pictures, somewhere along the way I've misplaced a bunch of them. Oh well, only 18 frames they will turn up and I will switch some out.
